School Dinners

RCT Catering Services provide a tasty and nutritious menu to all primary schools within Rhondda Cynon Taf. They offer a 2 week menu of hot dishes, along with a daily salad bar, a baguette/sandwich menu and a jacket potato option. Meals include a drink and a dessert. All schools offer unlimited wholemeal bread and, in addition to the dessert of the day, there is also a limited choice of frozen yoghurt, cheese and crackers or fresh fruit daily. Vegetarian, vegan and medical diets can also be catered for.

Universal Primary Free School Meals

In September 2022, the rollout of Universal Primary Free School Meals (UPFSM) across Wales began, starting with learners in Reception. The policy is part of the Co-operation Agreement between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru, which will see free school meals extended to all primary school learners over the next two years.  

Following the successful roll-out of UPFSM to Reception, Years 1-4, and eligible Nursery age pupils in Rhondda Cynon Taf, the next phase is to commence from 8th April 2024, where the offer will be extended to include all Year 5 and 6 pupils and eligible Nursery pupils.
